General FAQ




Error occurs at starting up.
Check the version of Internet Config.
1.3 or older version is unavailable on Magellan.(Because specification of Internet Config has changed.)The latest version is 2.02. Please install the newer version. You can download latest Internet Config here.

Error 10 occurs and mail checking is unavailable.
Magellan is trying APOP access even the mail server is not APOP. Please uncheck the APOP check box in the Account setting window.

Error 12 occurs and cannot send e-mail.
Some free web e-mail cannot be set as the default account. In this case, mail server send error to Magellan. You can send 'from' line of header as that account however, smtp server is unavailable. Please set other account as the default.
LAN e-mail has garbage characters.
Often LAN e-mail system does not add charset header information. Check
the default encoding preference and set as your general language. Or ask your system administrator to set e-mail system to add header information.
Server Error message is indicated and POP account cannot be verified.
If pop account verification caused error, mail server takes time to recover. Please wait for 30 seconds and try again.

Even after the change of mail list font, some are not changed.
You can set different mail list font for each language. The line which is not changed is indicated as different language.

How can I make View successfully?
The possible mistakes in making View are on the items 'account' and 'name'. Account is not for sender of e-mail but your own account. You have to set this item as correspondence with which account. If you want to looking for correspondence with certain person, enter his or her e-mail address in the 'Name' field. In addition, please don't forget to select the Time span item. If you select nothing from this, only this week's mail will be searched.
Magellan cannot receive (or send) e-mail.

If you cannot receive e-mail, check the following points.

  • Is your internet connectivity works correctly?
  • Is your smtp server address correct?


  Please check the Account setting.

  • If you cannot send e-mail, check the following in the same way.
  • Is your internet connectivity works correctly?


Is your POP server address correct? Please check the items POP Server, POP account and POP Password.
  
If you set any of these items again, read this.


Certain e-mail account is not always available.

In case of multi-account, check the following point.

  • Dial up to the access point of e-mail account.
  • Put diamond mark to the account.
  • Send e-mail from the account.

Even I am trying to send mono lingual message, the dialog says 'This message contains characters or strings of plural languages.'
Please check that you do not use any special characters or signs.

Attachment text file sent by Netscape Communicator for Windows cannot be extracted.
It is the problem of Netscape Communicator.
Netscape Communicator handles attachment file of text format as e-mail body giving the lingual attribute automatically. To avoid this problem, change the setting of 'Encode attached Text' in Preferences.

Magellan says that it is out of memory. How much should I increase the memory?
The memory requirement changes according to the amount of e-mail message. In addition, skipping mail requires more memory than usual. Magellan's suggested memory requirement is 2000k and it is enough for about 1800 messages of receiving or sending. is set as suggested size on Magellan. If the dialog showed, try to change 2500k.

Attachment file from EudoraPro 4.x cannot be received correctly.
In the settings of Macintosh EudoraPro 4.x, if the check box "Always include Macintosh information" is unchecked attachment cannot received correctly not only by Magellan but other e-mail clients. For more information, read the documents of Eudora Pro.


Some of characters are shown as ?
Characters which is inappropriate for e-mail is shown as "?".

The dialog said "contains some invalid characters", message was not sent successfully.
Please check all signs and characters you have used in message again.

 I have sent email to myself, but Magellan does not show the message.
To regulate correspondence between illegal copy of Magellan, email message cannot be read if both sender and receiver has entered same serial number. In case you use different mail account on two computers, you need to enter your another account to each Magellan.




Language FAQ

E-mail message written in French cannot be read because the characters are garbage even it was sent by myself.
If you have both sent and received by Magellan, such problem is impossible. When you receive French message by other e-mail client software, please confirm that it support ISO-8859-1 and encode setting is correctly done.

Some characters of multilingual e-mail sent by Unicode become garbage on Windows.
Netscape Communicator and Outlook Express for Windows have some differences in Unicode algorithm and extent of Unicode conversion. Thus characters become garbage partly. Outlook Express causes error more frequently. In such case, try to open e-mail by other web-browser or e-mail software.


Magellan seems to have problem in text selection of RTL language.
Sometimes selection is not highlighted in RTL language. It occurs where space or punctuations of LTR language (English, us-ascii) are used in RTL language. However it is only on your screen, selection itself will be correctly processed.
